About Me
My first bite of a bug was in India. Siting cosily on a day off from work in a home-cook's apartment, I was excited to sample food from the north-eastern Indian province of Assam. The water bug chutney - crushed bugs with garlic and green chillies - made for an apt dip to the sweet pumpkin fritters.
I had caught the bug!
Bugs have become the 'it' thing in Toronto. From being a garnish on a guacamole to being crushed into a flour to make cookies. Everyone's getting excited about bugs! And, eating more of them can only be better for the environment.
While trying out Snapchat as a medium of reporting, Alan Sebastian and I went around campus and tried to get people to try out bugs.
Since then, making people aware of the benefits of eating bugs seemed like an interesting story to tell.
